Will the face lifted Maruti Alto 800 hit bull's eye in the market?
Maruti Suzuki, the most popular and reliable car
brand of India has several cars in their warehouse, which boasts large selling
numbers in our country. The entry level hatchback segment is the most
competitive and best selling segment in the Indian automotive scenario. The
company has a range of compact hatchbacks in its house, among which the Maruti
Suzuki Alto 800 is one of the most popular cars which carries forward the
legacy of the original Maruti 800 which was the most popular car in the Indian
car history. Now with steeply increasing competition in the car market, the
auto maker has decided to introduce an upgraded version of the Alto 800.
This car is surely the most favoured entry
level car in the country as well as the best seller from Maruti Suzuki. It
comes in two new vibrant colour options namely, Mojito Green and Cerulean Blue.
The front profile of the car has also been designed newly with restyled head
lights, a new front bumper, restyled front grille and provision for fog lights.
The side profile of this car remains mostly unchanged and so is its rear
end. The wheels have been given a new design and the bumper is now 35mm longer
and gets provision for fog lights.
Dimensionally, the face lifted edition of
Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 comes with 3430 mm of length which is 35mm longer than
outgoing version and 1490 mm of width, 1475 mm of height and 2360 mm of wheel
base. The cabin has received certain updates as well. It comes with fabric
upholstery for seats and door pads, a passenger side Outside Rear View Mirror
as standard and additional storage space at the rear end of the car. Full wheel
covers, a rear spoiler, front power windows and much needed central locking
system are other standard features. Other upgraded
features include keyless entry, door trim fabric, rear seat head rest, remote
fuel lid and back door opener, passenger side ORVM as standard. The new Maruti
Suzuki Alto 800 comes with the same 800cc three cylinder petrol engine which
produces 47bhp with 69Nm of peak torque.
The face lifted version of Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 delivers
24.7 kmpl of fuel economy in petrol variant, while on CNG model claims to deliver
33.4 kmpl of fuel efficiency. This new upgraded version of the Alto 800 is
priced between 2.45 lakh to 3.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is quite
affordable, therefore making for a super selling package from the house of
Maruti Suzuki.
